Editor's Note
Yeni Kapı, also known as the Tigris Gate or Water Gate, is one of the four gates of the Diyarbakır city walls and stands on the east side of the city. With a low arch and a single entrance, it connects the city to the Tigris River. Despite later repairs it has preserved its Byzantine-era character, and an inscription in the Great Mosque of Diyarbakır refers to it as the Water Gate.
