The Sarıhan Caravanserai stands in the Damsa valley within Nevşehir Province, on the Aksaray-Kayseri section of the Silk Road, about 5 km southeast of Avanos. It was built in 1249 during the reign of the Anatolian Seljuk sultan Izz al-Din Kaykavus II and covers an area of around 2,000 square metres.
