Editor's Note
The Vespasianus Titus Tunnel is an ancient water tunnel built in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD for Seleucia Pieria, the port of Antioch, located on mountainous slopes overlooking the sea near Samandağ in Hatay. Ordered by Emperor Vespasian to divert floodwaters that threatened the harbour, it was dug by hand, continued under his son Titus and later emperors, and completed in the 2nd century under Antoninus Pius.
