Story
The Sultan Selim Mosque Fountain is an important part of Konya's historic architectural fabric. Built in the Ottoman period, this ablution fountain was made to allow the faithful coming to the mosque to perform their ablutions before preparing for prayer. With its plain yet functional design, it reflects the architectural understanding of the era. The basin at the center of its octagonal structure and the surrounding stonework are among the typical examples of Ottoman ablution fountains.
