The Avcılar Campus of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa is the university's largest campus by land area, ranked among the most extensive in Turkey. It was established in 1978 because the growing university could no longer fit into its Beyazıt and Vezneciler sites. Besides faculties, institutes and colleges, the campus hosts a cultural centre, veterinary clinics, student dormitories and sports facilities.
