Editor's Note
İştipol Synagogue is a synagogue in the Fatih district of Istanbul, between the Balat and Draman neighborhoods. It was built by Jews who had migrated from the town of İştip in Macedonia and were admitted to Istanbul by an edict in 1694. After being rendered unusable in a fire, it was rebuilt in wood under a permit edict dated 1899. Registered and placed under protection in 1987, the building is closed to worship today.
