Editor's Note
It was built during the reign of Mehmed II (the Conqueror); although it is not known who commissioned it, a man named Bezzazzade Ahmet is said to have built it. The mosque, whose main prayer hall has interior dimensions of 7.50 by 7.55 metres, has a square plan, with its upper part covered by a dome and the portico (last congregation space) covered by a vault. The portico is in three bays formed by two piers in the middle and the pointed arches between the east and west side walls. It differs from other masjids in that the central entrance bay has a flat (depressed) arch. The mosque's walls are built of rubble stone, while the gable wall is built of stone and brick.
