Editor's Note
Located in the Zincidere neighborhood of Kayseri's Talas district and now within a military post, this monastery complex began to be built in the first half of the 18th century and was expanded with various structures until 1864. It thus became one of the largest and most functional monastery complexes around Kayseri. Serving both the religious and the social life of the Turkish-speaking Greek Orthodox Christian community, this group of buildings is known as the Zincidere Monastery of John the Baptist and is an example of a multifunctional religious-social complex.
