Editor's Note
A military structure established in 1912 for the defence of İzmir during the Balkan War and used until the 1970s... The battery position, its associated underground ammunition depots, administrative buildings and barracks... In 1915, the enemy states attacking Çanakkale by sea attacked İzmir in March 1915 to prevent the Gulf of İzmir from becoming a naval base for the Germans. This attack was met with defensive fire from the gun batteries at Menteş (Çeşmealtı), Kilizman (Güzelbahçe), Abdullahağa Çiftliği (Narlıdere Engineering School), Bademlik (Sahilevleri) and Yenikale (İnciraltı).
