Editor's Note
Aksaray Museum was first established in 1969 in the Zinciriye Medrese, formed from artifacts gathered from the surrounding area. As excavations at sites such as Acemhöyük, Aşıklı Höyük, Musular and Güvercinkayası grew, a new building became necessary and the present museum opened in 2004. Its collection ranges from the aceramic Neolithic to the Ottoman period; highlights include the Aksaray stele bearing a relief of the Hittite Storm God with a Luwian inscription, and a group of Byzantine-era mummies.
