Editor's Note
Ariassos, one of the cities of the Pisidia region, lies 50 kilometres north of Antalya, to the west of the 924-metre-high Cubukbeli - the pass connecting the Antalya coast to the Anatolian plateau - about 1 kilometre from the village of Akkoc. The city's official founding year is 189/188 BC, in connection with the campaign of Manlius Vulso and the Peace of Apameia. The city continued minting coins from the 1st century BC until the reign of Gallienus (253-267). Hierocles places the city in the province of Pamphylia in the Late Antique period.
