Editor's Note
Isbank Towers (İş Kuleleri), in the Levent neighbourhood of Istanbul's Beşiktaş district, held the title of Turkey's tallest building until 2011. Construction began in the summer of 1995 and was officially completed on 26 August 2000. The complex comprises three skyscrapers belonging to Türkiye İş Bankası; Tower 1 is used by the bank and serves more than 3,000 staff. It also houses a theatre/concert hall, the İş Sanat gallery, a shopping mall and restaurants. With its granite-faced lower floors evoking ancient temples contrasting with the metal-and-glass upper section, it is regarded as an example of postmodern architecture.
